Roxanne Giampapa, Head of School, Pinewood American International School, Vice President for the International School, Anatolia College (GR)

Dr. Roxanne Giampapa came to Greece after a 12-year teaching career in the rigorous independent school environment in the United States. She has served as the Head of School at Pinewood American International School since 2010 and as a Vice President of Anatolia College since 2019. She also serves on the Board of Trustees for the Near East South Asia Council of Overseas Schools and the Middle States Association’s International School Advisory Committee. Under her visionary leadership, Pinewood has experienced remarkable growth, expanding more than threefold in size. Collaborating with a dedicated faculty and staff, she has not only nurtured the school’s development but Pinewood has also been paramount in contributing to the thriving international community in Thessaloniki. Dr. Giampapa advocates for a transformative approach to education, emphasizing the importance of reframing learning beyond content knowledge. Learning, in her view, is equally about ensuring that young people develop a reliable, inclusive compass, resilient character qualities, and build the capacity to adapt and collaborate across differences. She holds a B.S. and an M.A. in Education and English Literature from The Ohio State University, pursued further studies at Yale University, and completed her Ph.D. in Educational Policy & Leadership at The Ohio State University.
