Giovanna Brambilla

Giovanna Brambilla, Art Historian, Consultant in Pedagogies for Cultural Heritage, Member of the Knowledge Community of CCW (Cultural Welfare Center-Turin) (IT)

Giovanna Brambilla, art historian, expert in education and cultural heritage mediation, works with particular care on the issues of accessibility in museums and on the relationship with visitors, with potential and non-public audiences. Graduated in modern literature, focusing on art history, she furthered her training with the specialization course in general and museum education at the Roma Tre University, the specialization course in intercultural communication and mediation at the University of Bergamo, the Specialization School in Art History at the University of Milan, where she was awarded a scholarship, and the specialization course “Communication in the school environment” at the University of Siena.

Member of ICOM, from 1996 to 2022 she has been the Head of the Educational Department of the Modern and Contemporary Art Gallery (GAMeC) of Bergamo, since 2022 she has been working as Head of territorial projects and audience development in the Lombardy Regional Museums Directorate. She is a member of the knowledge community of CCW-Cultural Welfare Center of Turin with a focus on museums, hospitality and well-being.

She is a lecturer in the Master in “Economics and Management of Cultural Heritage”, at the Il Sole24Ore Business School and in the Master in “Educational Services for the Artistic Heritage, Historical Museums and Visual Arts”, at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore di Milano. She has numerous collaborations to her credit, such as teaching for the School of Cultural Heritage and Activities Foundation (Fondazione Scuola dei Beni e delle Attività Culturali), and for the IILA (Italian-Latin American Institution). She is the author of numerous publications, including the volume Soggetti Smarriti. Il museo alla prova del visitatore, Editrice Bibliografica, Milano, 2021, focused on the analysis of the relationship between museums and the public, winner of the Silvia Dell’Orso award. Other books deal with the subject between art and society – such as the conception of hell, birth and mourning – read through a selection of images, from antiquity to contemporary time: Inferni.
