Dr Karen Mak is a research fellow in the Department of Behavioural Science and Health at University College London and the World Health Organization Collaborating Centre for Arts & Health. Using population-based surveys, her research focuses on identifying the enablers and barriers of arts and cultural engagement and the impacts of engagement. Her work has been cited by UK policy sectors, including the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport and Arts Council England, and numerous third-sector community groups
