PARTICIPATORY & ADVOCACY EVENT
Participatory workshop and advocacy discussion event focusing on the importance of networks in the museum and cultural sectors.
This working discussion will focus on the creation and strengthening of networks, promoting collaboration, participation, and the collective voice of cultural professionals. During the session, we will have the opportunity to hear about experiences and best practices from networks in the UK, Greece, and other European countries.
This discussion explores the power and potential of networks in cultural and community contexts. Together, we will examine how to build and sustain collective agency, navigate group dynamics, and foster meaningful participation. We’ll look at how networks can advocate for policy change, shape cultural narratives, and create common ground across differences. The session also considers cross-border collaboration and the challenges of working at a distance, while reflecting on how networks can remain resilient and forward-thinking in an increasingly self-centred world.
The Discussion will be based on the following 6 themes:
Networks & Leadership: How to create and maintain collective agency and participation, how to manage dynamics and expectation
Networks & Advocacy: In what ways can networks influence policy and create meaningful change?
Networks and Curatorial Practice: The role of networks in shaping cultural narratives
Networks and Common Ground: How to collaborate through differences
Networks Across Borders: How do we collaborate when we’re geographically apart?
Resilience & Development: Building the Future of Networks in a self centred world
